November’s SWW meeting will stand out as an exceptional day of collegiality. Di Morrissey's stimulating and wide-ranging Keynote Speech was an inspiration to all women writers. Di also launched the SWW anthology 'Ink 3' with many of the contributing authors present to read from their work. Dr Carol Middleton also read excerpts from stories and poems by several writers who could not be present. It was truly a celebration of ‘giving women a voice’.
We welcomed guests from Queensland and Victoria as well as our home state of New South Wales. There was a fantastic buzz to the room as members and guests exchanged ideas and (writing) ambitions. Musicologist Meg Matthews presented a workshop on how to weave music into text, providing another reason for all those who were present to go home to start writing!
