Workshop - Wednesday 20 October 2021

Dr Sharon Rundle: Self-Editing Fiction, memoir and autobiography

Time: 10.15 am – 12.00 pm
Cost:  $15 members, $20 non-members

Editing is essential to shape and polish your narratives. It can be an expensive exercise to outsource. If you are publishing a book and, even more so if you are self-publishing a book, hiring an editor before submitting your manuscript is well worth the cost. There is no point, though, in incurring the cost before your manuscript is ready for the final edit.
This workshop will guide you through self-editing your narratives, including Structural Editing—is everything in the right place and in the most effective order? Copy Editing—editing for style. Are the sentences well structured? Can they be better expressed? Is the meaning clear? Proofreading—a brief guide and tips for using technology to catch errors. While the focus of this workshop is on editing fiction and personal narratives, most information is suitable for other genres as well.
