KEYNOTE SPEAKER - Nicole Alexander - A Pastoral Heritage and Stone Country

Nicole Alexander Nicole Alexander is the author of nine Australian historical novels; Her debut novel, The Bark Cutters was shortlisted for an Australian Book Industry Award in 2011. Stone County, released March 2019 is a National Top Ten bestseller. 

Nicole has a Master of Letters in Creative Writing & Literature and her novels, poetry, travel and genealogy articles have been published internationally. A fourth generation grazier and business manager of her family’s rural holding, Nicole was named the 2012 Barwon Woman of the Year for services to literature and for the promotion of outback Australia through her work. Nicole will share how her pastoral heritage has formed her writing life and discuss the inspiration behind her latest novel, Stone Country.

SWW Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting of the Society of Women Writers NSW will be held at the Literary Luncheon. Election of Office Bearers and Committee Members will take place.

WORKSHOP PRESENTER - Beatriz Copello - Into The Depth of Modern Poetry Course

Beatriz Copello This course is a must for established or aspiring poets. Participants will have the opportunity to write poetry utilising methods designed to increase creativity, such as right brain techniques. Participants' own poetry and that of other participants will be analysed and discussed. In addition, questions such as the following will be considered: Why do you write? What barriers do you encounter when writing poetry? What do you want to do with your poetry? Exploration of the editing process will also be covered.

Dr Beatriz Copello is a psychologist, she writes poetry, fiction, reviews and plays. The author’s poetry books are: Women Souls and Shadows, Meditations At the Edge of a Dream, Flowering Roots, Under the Gums Long Shade, and Lo Irrevocable del Halcon (In Spanish). Beatriz's poetry has been published in literary journals such as Southerly and Australian Women’s Book Review and in many feminist publications. 

She has read her poetry at events organised by the Sydney Writers Festival, the NSW Writers Centre, the, Humboldt University (USA), Ubud (Bali) Writers Festival. Beatriz has also been invited to read her poetry in Argentina, Italy and Spain
