Teresa Petersen - Committee Member

Teresa has a BA(hons)PhD in English Literature. During the course of her studies, she covered Early Medieval to Twentieth Century Literature, including Literary Theory and Uses of Language. This afforded a powerful tool to look at the psychoanalytic dynamic at work in a given text. Her specialty is Victorian and Australian Literature.

During Teresa’s period at Macquarie University, she convened Australian Studies for many years. This course attracted foreign students interested in various aspects and perspectives on Australia from Aboriginal Studies to the Historical, Geographical and Political. Lecturers conversant in these specialised areas of study taught on the course.

When she ceased teaching, Teresa was granted Honorary Associate status to continue her research.

She has published The Enigmatic Christina Stead: A Provocative Re:Reading (Melbourne University Press 2001) and Daphne DuMaurier: Looking Inward (Austin Macauley Publishers, London, 2017).

In addition Teresa has published several journal articles in peer-reviewed journals and presented numerous papers at conferences.

She now looks forward to writing a book on a topic that is non-academic and intends to enjoy the journey.
